Refraction Media, a Sydney-based publishing company specialising in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths), has launched a new website called Science Meets Business.

Science Meets Business is a website and monthly newsletter, showcasing the latest in Australian innovation, research and development. Its aim is to bring frontier stories on Australian R&D to a more accessible and shareable platform.
As the global knowledge economy expands, the need for strategic partnerships between science, research and industry has intensified. Successful collaborations will help tackle social challenges and drive economic growth.
“Australia’s future prosperity will be underpinned by a highly qualified, well-connected, STEM-skilled workforce,” says Refraction Media Publisher, Karen Taylor-Brown.

“When scientists and entrepreneurs team-up, the opportunities for world-class innovation explode. Science Meets Business is about celebrating successful collaborations and revealing partnership opportunities.”

“We’re using our skilled network of award-winning science journalists, under the leadership of Refraction’s Managing Editor, Heather Catchpole, to take the stories of science and technology out of the lab and into the business arena.”

Science Meets Business is launching in partnership with KnowHow, a magazine produced by Refraction Media on behalf of the Cooperative Research Centres Association.

CRCA CEO, Tony Peacock said “We look forward to supporting this new website and driving investment in Australian innovation, from academia, government and, increasingly, industry.”

Designs, products and services developed by CRC research collaborations have become part of our everyday life from soft contact lenses and tooth mousse that helps repair dental enamel to new materials for aircraft wing surfaces that reduce fuel use and cut global carbon emissions.

Science Meets Business has launched with 10,000 subscribers including senior academics, research directors, policy-makers and corporate leaders. The readership is intelligent, influential and insightful, and not usually accessible by mainstream media.

Refraction Media also publishes the annual Ultimate Science Guide, the Postgraduate Survival Guide and Careers with Code.
